PRE & POST OP PROCEDURES AND INSTRUCTIONS
Silhoulette Lift (Instalift)
Postoperative Instructions for Silhouette Sutures (Instalift)
General Overview
Silhouette Sutures, or Instalift, is a minimally invasive procedure that lifts and tightens facial tissues using biocompatible sutures. Adhering to these instructions ensures a smooth recovery and optimal results.
Activity Guidelines
1. Facial Movements:
• Avoid excessive facial movements, such as chewing chewy foods or opening the mouth wide, for the first week.
2. Sleeping Position:
• Sleep with your head elevated on two pillows or in a recliner for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling.
• Avoid sleeping on your side or stomach for at least one week.
3. Dental Procedures:
• Avoid dental procedures for one month to reduce the risk of infection and to avoid excessive mouth opening.
4. Avoid Straining:
• Refrain from heavy lifting, bending over, or other activities that could raise your blood pressure for the first 48 hours.
Diet and Hydration
1. Hydration:
• Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
2. Diet:
• Stick to a soft diet for the first week to avoid excessive facial strain during chewing.
Medications
1. Antibiotics:
• Keflex 500 mg: Take every 6 hours for one week (if no allergies).
• Clindamycin 300 mg: Take every 8 hours for 7–14 days if allergic to penicillin.
2. Pain Relief:
• Use Tylenol or Tylenol with Codeine for discomfort (do not exceed 2000 mg of Tylenol in 24 hours, including all sources).
• Avoid aspirin or NSAIDs (e.g., Ibuprofen) for the first 48 hours to reduce the risk of bruising or bleeding.
3. Cold Sore Prevention:
• If you have a history of cold sores or HSV-1 reactivation, you may be prescribed Valtrex (Valacyclovir):
• 500 mg twice daily for prevention.
• In some cases, 1 gram may be given on the day of the procedure.
Hygiene and Showering
1. Avoid Washing the Face:
• Do not wash your face for the first three days after the procedure.
2. Showering:
• If staples were placed (e.g., for sideburn incisions), avoid showering for seven days.
3. Skin Products:
• Avoid applying any skin products, including makeup, for at least one week or until the skin is fully healed and cleared by the office.
Dressing and Suture Care
1. Avoid Touching the Sutures:
• Refrain from touching, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated areas for two months.
2. Dimpling:
• Occasional dimpling may occur at the suture sites. This typically resolves within three months but may require a revision if persistent.
Activity Restrictions
1. Physical Activity:
• Avoid intense exercise, heavy lifting, and facial massages for two months.
2. Smoking:
• Refrain from smoking for at least two weeks before and after the procedure to support healing.
